Does it matter if I play a mouthpiece with a different companies ligature?

Yes as long equally it respond right. Most company's ligatures don't fit origin with added company's instrument. Make sure that sooner you buy it, it's the becomingly size also you don't enjoy to pep it on in reality hard.
