What effect does writing a poem in iambic tetrameter have?

Iambic tetrameter's rythm fits the natural movement of our bodies. It's also very easy to read out loud, there being a pause every eight syllables. Most of Emily Dickinson's poems are written partly in iambic tetrameter. It's said to make a direct appeal to emotions. =) hope this helped!
